When you are in classes, workshops, events, socials, and/or fundraisers, and new people come to join, give them a big welcome and see if they have any questions about the class or event schedule or how to stay informed, and how to get to the 615 Soul Line Dance website. Make them feel welcome!
Please try to be on time. If late, please enter quietly to eliminate distractions to others. Instructors will not start over just to accommodate you. Instruction will be given again at the appropriate time.
All cell phones need to be place in silent mode or turned-off. If you need to accept or make a call, please step outside the dance studio.
Only bring yourself onto the dance floor (Food, Drinks, and etc are prohibited).
DURING THE INSTRUCTION
DON'T talk while an instructor is teaching. Talking whilst someone is teaching causes confusion to the class and/or instructor.
If there is a correction that needs to be made to the instruction of a dance, it should be addressed in a tactful way that does not disrupt the HARMONY of the class or workshop.
Instructors are to be mindful of their teach time for each dance and not go over their time to ensure all instructors (including guests, volunteers, and/or helpers) have enough time to teach.
Please let the beginners dance in the MIDDLE row. We want to ensure we surround beginners with experienced dancers for each wall.
If you have some experience, please try to be helpful and encouraging to newcomers.
DON'T teach someone a step or a move unless you are asked to and the instructor is comfortable with your assistance.
AFTER THE INSTRUCTION / DURING THE DANCE
When dancing, be mindful and courteous of the space you take up. The dance floor is made up of all dance levels and SAFETY is number one.
If you bump into someone on the dance floor, apologize and ask if they are ok. It doesn't matter whose fault it was.
If you’re the one who created the dance or requested the dance (and the creator is not present), go to the very FRONT of the dancers so the others can fall in behind you.
Oncea dance has BEGUN, please join the dance based on your experience and comfort with the dance. More experienced dancers should join the line near the front while others who may not know the dance yet should join the line near the back.
AFTER a dance has begun, please join from the back or the end of the line and not in the middle regardless of experience level.
DON'T walk through the lines of active dancers to get to the other side of the floor. Walk around the outside edge of the dance floor instead.
If you want to talk to someone, LEAVE the dance floor. Standing there blocks others and may cause an accident.
DON'T call out the steps to a dance unless someone has asked you to do so. If someone does need your assistance, please direct your instruction to the person who requested the help. Don't yell out the steps.
DON'T start a different dance unless there is plenty of room.
